HVAC Insulated-Flex R-6, 4'' Duct

The HVAC Insulated-Flex R-6 is an insulated hose specifically made for the movement of conditioned air and made to reduce the amount of heat loss as the air travels across the hose length. This Insulated flexible duct is constructed with plies of aluminum foil and insulated with fiberglass duct wrap. There are three layers across the wall thickness: the jacket is made from a silver fiberglass reinforced fabric, the insulation is a fiberglass wrap and the liner is a spiral aluminum foil duct. The hose is ideal for moving air-conditioned air and for use with permanent air conditioning units. This air conditioning duct is highly compressible, and it has a 5 to 1 compression ratio which allows a 25-foot length to compress to a 5-foot length. The hose is sold in twenty-five-foot coils and is sold in popular duct diameters of 4, 6, 8 and 12-inch inside diameter. The flex duct ends are plain-cut and can easily fit over a pipe or a connector of the same outside diameter. This flexible insulated duct has working temperature range of up to 160 degrees Fahrenheit on the high side and -20 degrees Fahrenheit on the low side.The R-Value of an insulated ductwork measures how well the insulation can resist heat loss as the air travels within the duct. There is always a temperature difference between the air inside an air conditioning duct and the outside temperatures. In cooler climates, heated air is being moved amidst colder outside air. During Summer heat waves, a duct that is insulated will carry cold air from the air conditioner to end points across the building. When there is a discussion about the R-Value of ductwork, the value references the insulation around the insulated flexible ducts and how well it prevents heated or cooled air from losing temperature to the surrounding environment. If you live in the Southwest or the Southeast parts of the US, you do not need duct insulation with as high an R-Value as you would if you lived in the Northern parts. R-4 to R-8 are the ideal R-Value range for insulated ducts used in air ventilation.
