Blast Cabinets are enclosed structures used to contain and direct abrasive material, such as sand, grit, or shot, to clean or finish a variety of surfaces. They are commonly used in automotive repair shops and industrial settings to clean metal components and prepare them for finishing.

Types of Blast Cabinets

Abrasive blast cabinets come in many different varieties. Some are designed specifically for glass bead blasting while others are better suited for air blasting. There are also pressure blast cabinets that can be used with both wet and dry abrasives. Additionally, some cabinets feature a reclaimer system to help reduce the amount of dust created during the process.

How Blast Cabinets are Made

Blast cabinets typically consist of a steel cabinet frame with an acrylic viewing window on the front door. Inside the cabinet is a rubber-lined chamber where the abrasive material is contained during operation. The chamber is connected to an air compressor which provides pressurized air that propels the abrasive material against the workpiece.

Industries that use Blast Cabinets

Blast cabinets are widely used in many industries including automotive repair shops, metal fabrication facilities, machine shops, and powder coating operations. Professionals in these industries use blast cabinets to remove rust from metal components, smooth out rough surfaces before painting or coating, strip paint from parts prior to refinishing them, and even polish delicate parts without causing damage.
