Box nails are a type of fastener used in woodworking and other construction projects. They are most often used when making furniture, cabinets, framing walls, and other carpentry tasks. Box nails have a thicker shank than common nails and are available in various sizes to accommodate different materials.

Types of Box Nails

The most common type of box nail is galvanized steel. Galvanized steel box nails provide superior corrosion resistance compared to plain steel or brass box nails. Additionally, there are specialty box nails that can be made from copper or stainless steel for added durability.

How Box Nails are Made

Box Nails typically consist of a thick shank with a flat head and small diamond-shaped point at the end. The head is designed to hold the nail firmly in place once it has been driven into the material being fastened. The diamond-shaped point makes it easier to drive the nail into hardwoods without splitting them.

Industries that use Box Nails

Box Nails are commonly used by carpenters, contractors, furniture makers, cabinetmakers, roofers, framers and other professionals who need to secure materials together quickly and securely. They are also frequently used for light repair work around the home such as hanging pictures or repairing fences.
