Hearing protection accessories come in a variety of forms to meet your workplace or personal needs. This includes earplugs, earmuffs, custom molded earplugs, and specialty accessories like earplugs with a cord for easy removal and earplugs that are noise canceling to allow for more focus while working.

To choose the right hearing protection accessory, first identify the noise levels in your environment using a sound level meter. Once you have the decibel reading, select a product with a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) that is sufficient for the noise level.

Regular maintenance and replacement are important to ensure your hearing protection accessories are effective. Foam earplugs should be replaced every few months, while reusable earplugs and earmuffs should be cleaned and inspected regularly. Replace when the pads are damaged or no longer seal.

Properly fitting hearing protection is essential for its effectiveness. For earplugs, roll and insert deeply into the ear canal until the flange is flush with the head. For earmuffs, adjust the headband so that the ear cups fit snugly over the ears, sealing off the ear canals.
