What are the different types of plastic strapping?

Plastic strapping is typically made from various types of polymers such as polypropylene, nylon, or polyester. Each type offers unique properties like strength, flexibility, and resistance to corrosion.

What is the ideal width and thickness for my application?

The appropriate width and thickness of plastic strapping depend on the weight and size of the items being secured. Wider and thicker straps are generally suitable for heavier loads.

How can I ensure a secure hold with plastic strapping?

Alongside choosing the correct width and thickness, using the appropriate tensioning and sealing methods is crucial for a secure hold. Tensioners allow for even distribution of tension, while sealers provide a tamper-proof closure.

Does plastic strapping offer any advantages over other materials?

Plastic strapping is resistant to moisture and chemicals, making it suitable for various indoor and outdoor applications. Its lightweight design further enhances its utility compared to other materials.

Plastic Strapping & Polypropylene Strapping

About Plastic Strapping

Plastic strapping is a highly versatile and widely used material for bundling and securing packages for transport and storage. It is a cost-effective and durable alternative to other strapping materials and can be used for a variety of applications.

Types of Plastic Strapping

There are two main types of plastic strapping: polyester and polypropylene. Polyester strapping is a more heavy-duty option, with higher break strength and thickness, making it ideal for heavier loads. Polypropylene strapping, on the other hand, is a lighter option that is more commonly used for lighter loads. Additionally, plastic strapping can be divided into two grades: hand grade, which is designed for manual use, and machine grade, which is designed to be used with strapping machines.

How Plastic Strapping Is Made

Plastic strapping is typically made from synthetic polymers, such as polyester or polypropylene. The strapping is produced by extruding the plastic through a die to create a long, thin cord or ribbon. The cord is then stretched and cooled to increase its strength and thickness. Some plastic strapping may also be reinforced with steel cord for additional strength. Additionally, plastic strapping can be treated with various coatings or additives to improve its properties, such as UV resistance or increased durability.

Industries that use Plastic Strapping

Plastic strapping is used in a wide range of industries, including logistics and transportation, agriculture, construction, and manufacturing. It is commonly used to secure packages, pallets, and other goods for transport or storage. In the agriculture industry, plastic strapping is used to bundle hay and other crops, while in the construction industry it is used to secure materials such as lumber and pipes. Manufacturing facilities use plastic strapping to secure products during the production process and for packaging finished goods for shipping.
