Maria has always been qualified as a colorist. Her art is whimsical and fun. She started drawing very early. In the late 70s she emigrated from her native Paris and moved to the Santa Cruz area in California where the inhibited freedom of the time was a fertile ground for all kinds of experimentation. Living in different cultures fed her creativity and inspiration. She has tried all kinds of media from watercolors to encaustics. She is primarily self taught and was selected to participate in several Art Residencies such as Vermont Art Studios, Art Institute in San Francisco, Chitrankitan Kerala, India, Dorland Temecula California, Art Institute in Santa Fe where she worked with Nathan Oliviera. Her current work reflects all those influences and is the sum of a long career as a painter. Humor is often present in her images. Several galleries both in Europe and California have represented her.

Giclee (jee-clay) is an advanced printmaking process for creating high quality fine art reproductions. The attainable excellence that Giclee printmaking affords makes the reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original piece. The result is wide acceptance of Giclee by galleries, museums, and private collectors. Gallery wrap is a method of stretching an artist's canvas so that the canvas wraps around the sides and is secured a hidden, wooden frame. This method of stretching and preparing a canvas allows for a frameless presentation of the finished painting.
