About Compression Packing
A compression seal is a flexible, lightweight boundary that provides a protective barrier and prevents leakage. These seals are typically used for high-pressure applications, such as valve packing. Having a tight seal on a compression valve is optimal, especially when working in an industrial environment, such as oil and gas pipelines. Compression seals come in many different shapes and materials, such as rubber, silicone, felt, fiberglass, and more. Pump gaskets are a type of leak seal that seals a water pump tight as a drum.
