Hand files and rasps are used to remove excess material from whatever substance you are working on (metal, wood, etc). There are 4 basic types of files: single-cut files with a single row of diagonal teeth that are great for both soft and hard surfaces; double-cut files with 2 sets of diagonally-cut teeth that cut twice as fast as a single-cut file; curved-cut files that have teeth cut in a curved shape and are perfect for smoothing and blending objects; and rasp-cut files that have a pattern where each tooth is individually formed. Rasp tools are better for soft materials because the teeth can easily dull against harder surfaces. If you're looking for accessories for your rasp or file, we've got handles, file brushes and file holders to name a few.
